Amd zen 4 pcie 51/23/2024 ![]() Having the bandwidth for not even a 3rd or 4th PCI-e 5.0 x4 SSD on the chipset, let alone having any spare bandwidth for simultaneous use of other devices while using such devices, really misses the mark if you ask me. I need 4 m.4 slots (2 OS, 2 application/user data storage), and with DirectStorage coming, having only two of those as PCI-e 5.0 4x ones seems on the low end for me. Why are we only offered a gimped chipset, which halves performance on an already slow interconnect? (slow, as in it could also have been wider, like intel is doing)Īnd they've added 4 more lanes to the CPU, so you're already getting 2 PCIe 5.0 m.2 slots. I don't care about what AM4 did, this is AM5. and 4.0 for the interconnect is already double the bandwidth compared to most AM4 boards. Currently it doesn't.īecause PCIe 5.0 lanes are expensive, including on a board. As a HEDT user who got duped by AMD with them pivoting Threadripper towards the workstation market, I think that at the very least X670E should enable the bandwidth for more devices. The cost-down version could be X650 or even X670, but for X670E this is just unacceptable to me. ![]() Very very few people need more then that, and adding more just raises the cost for everyone else.
